Corrie Star Guilty of Drink Driving

Sue Cleaver who plays Eileen Grimshaw in the famous soap Coronation St has been banned from driving for 17 months after been found guilty of drink driving. The star admitted to driving at 2am at nearly twice the legal drink drive limit.

ITV, the corrie cast and friends stood by Sue saying this was unlike the star and highly out of character.

Sue has been driving for almost 20 years and in that time picked up no points on her license. She was stopped by the police just a mile from her home after her land rover hit the curb. Police found 65mg of alcohol on her breath, the legal limit is 35mg.

The court was told:

"She is highly ashamed and deeply embarrassed. This could not have been more out of character.”

"She had not intended to drive that night and deeply regrets her spur-of-the-moment decision to do so."

One of her co-stars told the mirror newspaper: "No one could believe it - drink driving is just not Sue at all."
